Gorgogyri
Gorgogyri is a village in the regional unit of Trikala, at the foot of Mount Koziakas, at an altitude of 206 meters. It flows from Kefalopotamos. The central church of the settlement is the Genesis of the Virgin, which celebrates on September 8. In the village the custom of Karkatzala is observed (with the traditional bells) every first of the year.
Beautiful images of nature. Magical pictures from a place that is filled with plane trees, right next to Gorgogyri. That’s where you will see River Kefalopotamos. Its surging and clear waters come all the way down from the mountaintops of Koziakas and flow around the villages of Gorgogyryi and Xiloparoiko in Trikala. A path starts from Gorgogyri, continues along the river and ends up in the springs, forming a wonderful trip for all those who love hiking and being close to nature.
Depending on the season, visitors can capture unique pictures of different color and aroma, after walking in the dreamy paths of River Kefalopotamos and in the forest of Palaiokopri Lakka (3 km away from the village), as well as in the spring of Gavros, where unique herbs of the area are deeply rooted.
